| NCQA has established some standards regarding Credentialing Verifications! |

There are two major accreditation organizations that make a quality purview of all Managed Care Organizations operating in United States such as Health Maintenance Organizations, Preferred Provider Organizations, NCQA (National Committee for Quality Assurance) and URAC (Utilization Review Accreditation Commission). All managed care organizations have to comply with the quality standards established by the above mentioned accreditation authorities.
NCQA founded in year 1990 is a not for profit organization that has been working with a cause to promote health care in America and has been making persistent efforts towards improving the health care quality. Since its inception NCQA has taken center stage by carrying out a series of initiatives for driving improvement throughout the health care system.
Any organization associated with health care and various credential verification organizations have the seal of NCQA on them because being accredited by NCQA is considered a symbol of quality. Health care organizations in America who wish to incorporate the NCQA seal on their advertising and marketing material have to first clear a rigorous, comprehensive review. These organizations also have to send yearly reports to NCQA on their performance. From the point of view of consumers and employers the NCQA seal is indicative of a well managed organization that delivers persistent quality care and services.
NCQA has established some standards for Credentialing Verifications according to which the work history, disciplinary actions, and malpractice history of the providers’ is verified for the last five years and subsequently reviewed every three years. The primary areas that are verified during a credential verification process include:

DEA/CDS registration
Education
State Licenses
