Each week the popular Internet radio talk show "Sins of Omission" with Host Paulie Abeles features in-depth hour-long interviews with newsmakers designed to give listeners insight into current events 'beyond the nightly news'.

TONIGHT:
Revered for centuries, by Pharaohs and Kings alike, for their unbelievable agility, grace and speed, greyhounds continue to hold a special place in the popular imagination. The Greyhound Racing Association of America proclaims that greyhound racing is: "the cleanest sport in America", but is there another side? Animal rights activists point to 'greyhound farms' where as many as 34,000 puppies are bred annually to satisfy the demand for fast dogs. Dogs that will eventually be destroyed when they outlive their commercial usefulness.

Largely as a result of public pressure, revenue derived from greyhound racing is no longer the financial windfall it once was. In Florida, the Office of Program Police Analysis in 2003 reported that greyhound racing was now costing Florida taxpayer's money-the same year that as many as 20,000 greyhounds were euthanized because they weren't fast enough.

My guest tonight is Christine Dorchak, President and General Counsel of Grey2KUSA, a greyhound advocacy, who has lead a remarkable campaign to ban greyhound racing. Before obtaining her law degree, Ms. Dorchak worked as Research Director for the New England Anti-Vivisection Society and was the manager of the Ellen Gifford Sheltering Home for Cats in Boston.
