Depression is something that we all have to face in our life from time to time. First, we all have different views on depression.
The next factor to consider is if depression is normal. Personally, I have dealt with depression from time to time in my life: my father passing away a few years ago was one such instance. Such times in one's life are life changing events.

There are tools that we must use if we are to deal appropriately with depression. First, we must admit that we cannot deal with the depression by ourselves. We must surround ourselves with positive people: this is a must. These folks will help us see things in a different light. They will pick us up when we are down. They will give us the insight we need to make the right decisions and choices that we need to make. We should never make a decision when we are depressed: we will be going by emotions.

Be aware of the fact also that we teach others how to treat us in accordance to how we treat ourselves. This is very also important. If we are essentially emotionally abusive towards ourselves, not only are we giving a green light for others to treat us in the same way, but subconsciously we are inviting it and sending out the signal that this is what we want. This subconscious now and few will agree that we ask for our woe, but when we behave in this way we do. If you engage in behaviour and self talk that leads to depressions, others will treat you in that same way that leads to that same result. A very nasty circle has been made complete.

Symptom
Depression is diagnosed on the basis of its symptoms. Its symptoms includes many questions about mood, feelings of guilty, all the time suicidal thoughts come to mind, insomnia, agitation, anxiety, physical problems and problems in sex drive.

Food and depression
A report concludes that there is a relation between nutrition and mental health. Many dieticians say that changes in the way in which food is produced have reduced the amounts of essential fats, vitamins and minerals consumed and it have altered the balance of nutrients in foods.

Solutions
In times of stress our bodies are under enormous pressure. Our organs need to function more effectively and efficiently and unless we have some reserves for it to draw from, the organs start to malfunction. The brain in particular needs nutrients to perform properly and it is a sad fact that this day in age, the busy lives we lead, and the diet we have does not sufficiently provide the necessary nutrients. It is most important to supplement our diets to supply the missing nutrients.

Even though we believe we eat a healthy diet, balanced from all food types, it is lacking. The soils are known to be lacking in nutrients through over fertilization and chemical additives, genetically modified seeds, grains and livestock all add to the fact that we are not getting what we would normally have got from the same food 30 or 40 years ago. It is a proven fact that we need to eat 15 times the amount of vegetables we do today to get the same amount of nutrients we did 3 or 4 decades ago.
